Funding awarded for bulb planting in the cemetery!

Fulham Cemetery Friends have been awarded a £250 Climate Action Microgrant, for planting native spring bulbs in the cemetery this autumn.

Planting will take place in late September / October and this will be a volunteer-led effort. We can plan this at our next meeting.

We are planning to plant 650 bulbs of the following 4 species:

• 200 Wood Anemones

• 150 Snowdrops

• 150 Bluebells

• 150 Daffodils

These bulbs will naturalise and increase in number year after year.

Expected benefits:

• Visitors to the cemetery in springtime will enjoy the natural beauty of hundreds of colourful flowers.

• Early pollinating insects such as bumblebees will have a big increase in food after the winter.

• British native species get a boost, increasing people's appreciation for our natural heritage.

• The benefits will increase year after year as the bulbs naturalise and increase.
